Senior Electronics Applications Engineer – Circuit Board & Rework Support

Circuit Technology Center is a national leader in high-reliability circuit board rework, repair, and modification. We support major aerospace, defense, medical, and technology customers who rely on our ability to solve complex board-level challenges. We are hiring a Senior Electronics Applications Engineer to strengthen our technical foundation and support our production team.

This role will serve as the technical authority, guiding technicians, evaluating complex assemblies, supporting rework setups, and ensuring safe, reliable engineering processes.

What You'll Do

  • Provide engineering-level guidance to technicians during complex rework and troubleshooting.
  • Evaluate circuit board assemblies for repairability, risk, thermal sensitivity, and recommended rework approach.
  • Support setup of Air-Vac / hot-air rework systems, including thermal profiles, airflow, and heat control.
  • Help technicians interpret schematics, identify components, and understand circuitry.
  • Identify and understand the behavior of major components, including ICs, BGAs, power devices, RF parts, passives, and connectors.
  • Evaluate circuit board materials, surface finishes, and conformal coatings to determine rework implications.
  • Assist with root-cause analysis, rework documentation, and process improvements across engineering and production.

What You Bring

  • 10 to 15+ years in electronics manufacturing, circuit board assembly engineering, applications engineering, or related fields.
  • Deep understanding of circuit board assembly, components, connectors, and materials.
  • Strong working knowledge of rework thermodynamics, including preheat, airflow, board warpage, and thermal profiling.
  • Ability to identify complex components and explain their function and rework risks.
  • Experience evaluating board-level failures and advising on repair strategies.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, BOMs, drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills and comfort supporting technicians on the floor.

Preferred Experience

  • Aerospace, defense, medical, or other high-reliability electronics environments
  • Familiarity with hot-air rework systems, reflow ovens, x-ray, robotic tinning systems, batch cleaning, component forming, tape and reel, CNC milling, lasers, and various assembly platforms
  • Knowledge of IPC standards (IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, IPC-7711/7721)
  • Exposure to failure analysis or DFM/DFA considerations
Quality Manager

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead our Quality Department and maintain compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and IPC standards. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing inspection processes, customer documentation, calibration, and internal audits. The ideal candidate has a strong background in electronics manufacturing, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work closely with production, engineering, and customers to uphold the highest standards of workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily inspection activities and final inspection sign-off.
  • Manage and maintain ISO 9001:2015 compliance and internal audit schedule.
  • Lead corrective and preventive action processes and root-cause analysis.
  • Maintain calibration records, inspection documentation, and training logs.
  • Review and approve certificates of conformance and quality reports.
  • Communicate with customers regarding quality concerns, audits, and RMAs.
  • Work cross-functionally with production and engineering to drive continuous improvement.
  • Support quality training and IPC workmanship standards throughout the company.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of quality management or supervisory experience in electronics manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of ISO 9001; familiarity with AS9100 or defense/aerospace requirements preferred.
  • Experience with root cause analysis, corrective actions, and documentation control.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Hands-on, collaborative approach with the ability to work on the floor when needed.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with ERP systems (NetSuite a plus).

Preferred

  • IPC or ASQ certifications (CQA, CQE, or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with aerospace or defense industry requirements.

Electronic Component Rework Technician

We're seeking energetic talent in a fast-paced environment, working with the world's leading contractor that supports military and high-level circuit board and component rework services. In this position, you'll work with state-of-the-art equipment alongside experts who have decades of in-the-field experience. If you have experience using hot gas surface mount component rework equipment, including rework for Ball Grid Array (BGA) devices, you could be an ideal candidate.

Once trained, applicants will need to perform circuit board rework tasks, including removing and replacing surface-mount devices using semi-automated equipment, with processes observed under a microscope. Circuit Board Repair/Rework Technician

We're seeking energetic talent in a fast-paced environment, working with the world's leading contractor that supports military and high-level circuit board and component rework services. In this position, you'll work with state-of-the-art equipment alongside experts who have decades of in-the-field experience. If you have experience soldering both through-hole and surface mount components, along with experience in the repair of damaged traces, through-hole, and surface mount pads, and internal circuitry on printed circuit boards, you could be an ideal candidate.

Once trained, applicants will need to perform circuit board rework tasks, including removing and replacing through-hole and surface-mount devices, mask repair, laminate damage repair, and various Engineering Change Orders. At the same time, processes are observed using a microscope. IPC Certified candidates are preferred, but training in these disciplines will be provided.
